About Us
Our beautiful farm has been passed down through 3 generations. In 1983 Dennis and Elva Mahar purchased the farm days before Ash Wednesday bushfire came raging through. Still hopeful they continued to build on their dream land. In 2004 their son Peter Mahar took over the farm and continued growing the farm by adding trees and cattle.
2019 Peter’s son Thomas Mahar took over the farm. Thomas had the idea to grow the biggest lavender farm in south Australia. The once cattle farm was transformed into a sprawling 50,000 plant Lavender farm and we can’t forget the alpacas! After almost 7 years Thomas knew the lavender was ready to share with the public. Nicole had the idea to pick your own lavender and that’s how the farm opening begun. December 2023 we finally opened our gates to you all. Almost 7 years of hard work paid off to see all our happy visitors.
The dream is for us to share our love of the farm with everyone, to create happy memories, and to share the passion of lavender and the love of nature.
We will continue to grow our lavender farm and aim to get bigger and better every year. 50,000 plants will turn into 120,000 plants. So, keep your eyes peeled for exciting adventures with us.
Thomas and Nicole launched their Hahndorf Lavender product range November 2023. With almost 30 products available, all made with the Hahndorf lavender oil, distilled on the farm to make the purest lavender oil. The range continues to grow as Nicole hand makes products on the farm to sell in their new shop on the main road in Hahndorf.
